Can We Swim Today? Live Singapore Pool & Haze Status
Short answer: read the board below. It turns green for a pool when its region's 24-hour PSI is 100 or lower and 1-hour PM2.5 is 55 µg/m³ or lower, amber when either reading enters the advisory band, and red when swimming classes must stop. It also shows whether each ActiveSG complex is open right now or shut for its weekly cleaning day. Every number comes from NEA's live feed; the hours come from ActiveSG's published schedules and our own coaches' checks.
Pool status today: Friday 16 October 2026
Updated 7:28am SGT. No, not all public pools are open today: ActiveSG has closed every Central and East swimming complex for haze effective 16 October 2026 until further notice, and although West, North and South pools are open, West air quality is in the Suspended band while North and South are at Advisory.
West: no haze closure listed; Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang, Jurong East, Jurong West, Senja-Cashew, Clementi and Jurong Lake Gardens are open. 24-hour PSI 175, 1-hour PM2.5 156, Suspended.
Central: ActiveSG Sport Park @ Teck Ghee and Bishan closed. 24-hour PSI 186, 1-hour PM2.5 217, Suspended.
South: no haze closure listed. 24-hour PSI 157, 1-hour PM2.5 144, Advisory.
East: Heartbeat @ Bedok, Hougang, Geylang East, Jalan Besar, Katong, Tampines, Pasir Ris and Serangoon closed. 24-hour PSI 163, 1-hour PM2.5 182, Suspended.
North: no haze closure listed. 24-hour PSI 123, 1-hour PM2.5 125, Advisory.
Source: ActiveSG facilities closure page and NEA readings via data.gov.sg. We update this block each morning during a haze episode; the live board below updates itself every hour. Separately from the haze, Jurong East's competition pool is closed for upgrading until 31 December 2026, Clementi's training pool until 26 October 2026, Jurong West's fun pool, water slide and lazy river until 6 November 2026, and Katong's competition pool until 18 December 2026.

How the status is decided
The dashboard applies the national outdoor-activity guidance that Swim Masters follows for every lesson:
Classes allowed (green): 24-hour PSI 100 or below and 1-hour PM2.5 55 µg/m³ or below. Air quality is good or moderate and lessons run as normal.
Caution / advisory (amber): PSI 101–200 or 1-hour PM2.5 56–150. Classes may proceed at reduced intensity with extra rest; swimmers with asthma, heart or lung conditions should sit out.
Classes suspended (red): 1-hour PM2.5 above 150 µg/m³ or 24-hour PSI above 200. All outdoor water activity stops.
Facility closed (grey): outside the complex's regular 8:00am–9:30pm hours, or on its weekly pool-cleaning day.
Why both numbers? The 24-hour PSI is a rolling average and lags a fast-moving haze episode by hours. The 1-hour PM2.5 reading is what NEA advises using to decide on activity in the next few hours, which is why our coaches check it two hours before each class.
What Swim Masters does when air quality drops
Our full Haze Action Plan sets out the lesson-by-lesson decision rule, how parents are notified on WhatsApp, and how cancelled or opted-out sessions become a makeup credit valid for 90 days. Medical opt-outs during advisory conditions receive the same credit.

How we built this and how we check it
We built the board for our own coaches first. Before every lesson, two hours out, the coach on duty checks the 1-hour PM2.5 for the pool's region against the thresholds above and messages parents on WhatsApp if the session changes. The board puts that same check in one place so parents can see it too.
Pool hours and cleaning days were compiled from ActiveSG facility pages and then checked against what our coaches see on the ground. Where listings disagreed, the ground won: Bukit Batok and Senja-Cashew both close for the whole of Wednesday, not Thursday and not just the afternoon, which is what some directories still show. Toa Payoh (closed for the Toa Payoh Integrated Development, reopening around 2030) and Kallang Basin (closed September 2025 for housing) are left off the board because they are not swimmable.

Official ActiveSG haze advisory
ActiveSG has put precautionary measures in place while haze conditions evolve, and warns that facility operations and programmes may be adjusted at short notice. Their official channels for the latest position are:
Facility closures and updates: go.gov.sg/activesgfacilitiesclosure, or the sport centre's own Facebook or Instagram page.
Haze advisory and guidelines for sport: go.gov.sg/sporthazeadvisory
Programme updates: check with your coach or instructor for changes to scheduled sessions. For Swim Masters lessons, that is our WhatsApp line.
Check these before you travel. The dashboard above reads NEA's numbers; ActiveSG's closure page is the authority on whether a specific complex is operating that day.
Frequently asked questions
Is the swimming pool open today in Singapore?
During a haze closure, no: ActiveSG shuts all outdoor pools in the affected regions until further notice, and swimming classes there are suspended. On a normal day, ActiveSG swimming complexes open 8:00am to 9:30pm except on each pool's weekly cleaning day. The status block at the top of this page is updated each morning and the live board updates hourly.
Are swimming lessons cancelled during haze?
Lessons stop when the 1-hour PM2.5 exceeds 150 µg/m³ or the 24-hour PSI exceeds 200, or when ActiveSG closes the pool. Between PSI 101 and 200 lessons continue at reduced intensity. At Swim Masters every cancelled session becomes a makeup credit valid for 90 days.
Is the data official?
Yes. PSI and PM2.5 readings come directly from the National Environment Agency through the data.gov.sg real-time API, the same figures shown on the NEA and myENV apps. NEA updates them hourly.
Which region does my pool belong to?
Each complex is mapped to the nearest of NEA's five reporting regions (North, South, East, West, Central). The boundaries are approximate; a pool near a regional border may sit closer to the neighbouring region's monitoring station.
The dashboard says the pool is open but I heard it is closed. Which is right?
The open/closed status uses each complex's regular hours and its scheduled weekly cleaning day. Public-holiday openings, ad-hoc maintenance and events are not included. Always check the ActiveSG facilities closure page or call the sports centre before travelling.
Will my lesson be cancelled if the status turns amber?
Not automatically. Under advisory conditions our coaches run a lower-intensity session with more rest. If you would rather your child skip the lesson, tell us before the class and the session becomes a makeup credit.
What happens if the readings jump to red during a lesson?
The coach ends water activity, moves swimmers indoors or under cover, and the remaining time is credited. Parents are messaged straight away.
